The IROWG has been set up to further exploit radio occultation data. The interaction with CGMS is through the Working Group on Satellite Products at the annual CGMS meetings. Practically the interaction between all the different CGMS Science Working Groups and the CGMS is realised through a rapporteur who participates regularly in the annual CGMS meetings. Recommendations from the Science Working Group to CGMS are considered by the CGMS plenary and often lead to actions and pertinent changes in the operational systems.

Recommendations for consideration at the CGMS meetings are generally formulated during dedicated workshops by the individual Science Working Groups. These workshops are organized by two appointed co-chairs.
